ABOUT US
Founded in 2022, Salty Roe Tasmania began its journey with a vision to create exceptional, high-quality sea urchin products.
After years of gaining industry knowledge and experience, we achieved a major milestone in 2023 with the commencement of our first commercial production at Goulds Country, Tasmania,
Our original bush factory, nestled in a serene and picturesque setting just 20 minutes from St Helens, provided the perfect environment for produce our premium sea urchins.
In May 2024, to better meet growing customer demand, we relocated to a larger factory in St Helens. This move also allowed us to streamline operations, ensuring that we could process same-day catches, preserving the freshness and exceptional quality of our sea urchins.
In recognition of our commitment to quality, we were honored to receive the Ready to Eat Category "Gold Medal" at the 2024 Tasmanian Fine Food Awards, showcasing the excellence of our produce.
We are also excited to announce the launch of our new range of value-added products, including a variety of sauces, dressings, soups, and seasonings, which became available in October 2024.

WE ARE ON A MISSION
The Long-Spined Sea Urchin (Centrostephanus rodgersii) has spread into Tasmanian waters since the late 1970s, threatening the ecological balance of East Coast rocky reefs.
Today, there are around 20 million individuals, and recent surveys show a rise in urchin barrens from 3.4% to 15.2% between 2001 and 2017.
